But I do have a rare photo ..........

And here are some interesting links embedded of stuff that I continue to try to get my hands around but remains elusive.
Question remains, who most provoked the Kingdom of God; Graham or the folks in the footnotes or is the wrong question being asked.
It keeps going around and around.

Billy Graham, Nixon, Race and the South

Just click and follow the embedded links.

Should I have ridden over from Gaffney, South Carolina to the Crusade in Knoxville in May of 1970 as a Junior in High School.
Would it have made any difference, or just added to the discussions I was to have that summer with the son of the man who gave more money to Nixon in 72 than any other man in America.
I didn't get to Knoxville till 78, eight years later.
Maybe that's the story of this blog; always pushing the envelope a decade after the fact.

Well at least I read the great story about the Great Bells of Russia in the New Yorker, one of which made Andre Rublev.

Fortune Cookie; Southern Preachers and the Marketting of em

Had fascinating conversation today at the China House in the town where my Mother was raised and Baptized.
Lady knew William Faulkner when she was teaching at Ole Miss.
You just never know.

My fortune cookie said: "Soon you will be recognized and honored as a community leader". On the way to get some gas at 59 right after that I met a woman going the other way.
What a day, what a day.

Here's what else is on my mind; just click away

Alabama: World's Largest City Council

Bob Davis gets it about right.
http://www.annistonstar.com/opinion/2009/as-columns-0405-bdaviscol-9d03v4114.htm

There are still a few questions I would like to see him and Wayne Flynt and Hardy Jackson and Stephen Black answer about Constitutional Reform.
But they have to tour the state and convince local and small town Athletic Clubs they have the defining, winning argument.

I had some interesting exchanges with some operatives and the candidate himself Friday when Ft. Payne native Ron Sparks announced for Governor.

He is refining his message daily, but best I could gather from him and two staffers on the fly Friday was he is with Randy Owen and Lowell Barron and the campaign to "Let the People Vote" on casino gambling in the state sugar coated with dreams of Branson, Mo. throughout the state; but does not trust the people to understand the arguments of the Anniston Star, Flynt, Jackson, the late Tom Corts and company on Const Reform.
Fears it would be a run away for the special interests.

Looks to me that is what we have now fogged by AEA, Alfa and now this Randy Owen, Milton McGregor, George Jones juggernaut.

Folks with more virtue, intelligence, savvy and money than me will have to take it up.
Right now I'm a little cynical about the outcome cause to paraphrase the Sheriff in No Country for Old Men: Point being in a contest between the Alabama Baptist Joe Godfrey and Sweet Home politics of casino gambling fogging Const Reform, more than the outcome being less than certain, for sure to end up in a thicket, a swamp to the despair of the ghosts of Judge Frank Johnson, Hugo Black; even Harper Lee.

Line in the movie was Point bein even in a contest between a man and a steer the outcome is not certain.
I'm kinda feeling like if I was the state of Alabama referent for the widow in the movie, Anton Chigurh is there in every dream I have for Alabama waiting flip the coin.
That's my experience in the worlds' largest City Counci; What's Yours????

PS: And there was my friend Jojo Morgan working PR for the event Friday in Ft. Payne.
Jojo there with a big smile. Good to see him, but I was not sure what scene of Oh Brother, Where Art Thou we were in.
Sunday from the pulpit in Collinsville, Alabama his Dad was promoting the ALCAP flyer naming Lowell Barron and Randy Owen themselves as culprits in the state.
If the Morgan family of Duke, UVA, Yale and UA Capstone can't speak a certain sound; if they too fall prey to the Casino Gambling Distraction away from the Larger Cause of Constitutional Reform not to mention the feckless pettifoggery they fail prey too in regard the fundamentalist takeover of the SBC, and it's Yale application/library policy concomitant; then what hope is there?
